Hello families! We are thrilled to be back. School Messenger is one primary source of communication from our school. Messages are typically sent out on Sundays and also posted on our Banting and Best website https://bantingandbest.cbe.ab.ca/. Individual teachers and staff may also send out additional messages as needed.

Welcome Back

This is such an exciting time of year! New beginnings, new friendships, new learning. Our first few days of school have been fantastic and we have enjoyed seeing so many new and familiar faces, and oh those smiles!

We are very lucky to have such an amazing staff. Most of who you will recognize and a few new faces. We would like to welcome Suzanne Smith as our Learning Leader and Resource teacher, Casandra Harrold as Learning Leader and Grade 2/3 teacher, as well as Jacquie Koromah as Educational Assistant. Megan Mitchell will continue teaching Grade 2/3 and will also be taking on the Learning Leader role.

Please click on the link to watch a video prepared for our Banting and Best School community. Along with a very important message about having a curious mind, it also is read by members of our staff. We hope this allows you to get more familiar with each of us and to put names to faces.

Wasps

You don't have to be outside long in Calgary right now to be in contact with these insects. Our school is no exception. We have had pest control out to reduce long grass and vegetation. They were also able to locate a nest that has been removed. We are hoping this will significantly reduce the possibility of contact with wasps.

Parking/Bussing

We will be having 3 buses dropping off and picking up students from our school this year, which requires additional space. In our meetings with our traffic safety team last year, changes were also made so that significant distance between buses and the parking lot entrance can be maintained. Please pay close attention to the parking signs in front of the school as they have changed. There is significant parking available along 18th Street for families. You can park there safely and walk the short distance across the field to your child's entry and exit door. Families have felt unsure if they are permitted to park there. Yes. There are no signs that mark it as no parking/stopping.

School Grounds

We are thrilled to connect to our school community and larger geographical community as often as we can. However, when our students are outside on school grounds during instructional hours, we ask families to stay off the field and park areas. This allows our staff to pay full attention to our students.

Also, pets such as dogs, are not permitted on School Property. This is for the safety of our students. We certainly understand that most animals are friendly, however it does increase the chances of conflict that we want to avoid. If you are walking your dog for pick up or drop off of your child, please stay beyond the fence line while you wait.
