Hello families,
We hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving weekend full of relaxation and time with family. Plus that weather was incredible!!!
School Council Meeting
Thank you to all that attended our School Council Meeting either in person or online this past week. It was wonderful to hear from our School Board Trustee Susan Vukadinovic from Ward 8&9 along with our new Area Director Kenny Yeung. Families were able to pose important questions about the future of our school and community. We are thrilled to announce with the increase in enrollment and the removal of our portable spaces that our capacity has increased to a point where we have been removed from the SSAP list as we are no longer categorized as underutilized. We are also happy to announce that all School Council Executive positions have been filled. What an amazing school community! We love seeing families at these meetings and hope to keep a high interest in supporting the school in these critical ways.
Thanksgiving Assembly
We are proud of our Kindergarten students and Ms. Mitchell's grade 2/3 class for hosting our Thanksgiving Assembly. These students shared with us the importance of gratitude and being thankful. They also read us the amazing book 'The Grateful Book' and launched a school wide project for each staff and student to add a leaf stating what we are grateful for. What an amazing positive habit to cultivate in ourselves and our students.
Popcorn Volunteers
- Popcorn Days are well underway and we need volunteers to help. If you are available on any of the dates, please consider signing up on Signup Genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4FACA722A7F8C07-51837774-popcorn
- It is a very easy role - you organize the orders for that day so that they are ready to be taken to the classrooms. It takes under an hour. It is the only fundraiser that does not require you to have a Police Information Check. A little help goes a long way!
Lockdown Practice
This week we completed our first lockdown practice of the year. Our students did an excellent job of going to their designated location, remaining quiet and discussing any concerns with our friends from the Calgary Police Service. Lockdown practice occurs multiple times a year in every Alberta school to help ensure we know how to stay safe.
