Hello families,

Gymnastics

We are thrilled to be launching our gymnastics unit in Phys. Ed. this week. Nothing special is required in terms of preparation and clothing other than the following:

Gymnastics : Head to Toe, Ready to Go

Jump Rope for Heart

We have now kicked off Jump Rope for Heart!

This event teaches our students the importance of giving back and encourages them to learn the E.A.S.Y. healthy habits, so they understand the importance of staying active, eating well and taking care of their heart and brain health.

The funds our school raises will help support important heart and brain research funded by Heart & Stroke. Let's work together as a school community and show how generous we can be! Our Event Date is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11th during class-time.  This event is for students to celebrate their jump rope skills with their peers, have fun, and work together to see how many skips we can total!  Register online today at https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/118237?utm_medium=QR and let the fundraising begin!

You may direct any questions you may have to our Phys. Ed. teacher, Mrs. MacDonald (megmacdonald@cbe.ab.ca).

Eco-Action School

Our grade 2 students are heading off campus this week to attend Eco-Action School at Ralph Klein Park. This learning is a collaboration between our teachers and Campus Calgary Open Minds. Students explore their curriculum through classroom and outdoor opportunities using specific techniques such as inquiry, sketching and reflection. Thank you to School Council and Education Matters for their joint sponsorship of this amazing learning.

Vehicle Idling

Thankfully we have been having much warmer weather and our students have been enjoying their outside time tremendously. Whether it is warm or cold, we ask families to consider walking to school or doing a short park to drop off either along 66th Ave or 18th Street. If parking for more than a quick minute, we request that vehicles are turned off rather than idling to maximize air quality as our students enter the school yard.
