Hello families,

We are hoping that everyone is staying healthy and warm in these unique winter temperatures. Luckily there is a predicted warm up heading our way! Even though the temperatures are rising, please continue to send your child in layers of clothing as we do go outside as often as we can, even during the winter months.

Grade 3 Waste Audit on Friday, January 19

Banting and Best School will be working with Green Calgary this week to conduct a waste audit. Our Grade 3 students will work with Mrs. Seymour and a representative from Green Calgary to sort-and-weigh a 24-hour waste sample from our school. After the waste audit is complete, waste bags will be displayed to show how much garbage was created in one day, which items could have been composted or recycled and how much food could have been saved. Great learning for all of us on how to reduce waste!

New End-of-Day Bus Procedure starting Monday, January 15

K & Grade 1

• Bussed students continue to meet inside the school and are walked out to the bus by our staff

Grade 2/3

• Starting Tuesday, bus students will go out their regular exit door, walk around the school to the sidewalk and then to the bus
• Attendance will be taken by the bus driver and again by Banting and Best staff to ensure all students get onto the bus

For the first few days, out staff will go with the students to practice the new routine

CBE Child & Youth Well-Being Webinar - Teen Brain Development Meeting

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.
