Hello families,

Family Literacy Night

All Banting and Best families are invited to attend Family Literacy Night. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Literacy in a variety of ways such as reading together, playing literacy games and completing other challenges. This year, this event will take place in the gym on Wednesday, February 12th from 5:30-7:00 pm. We will also be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Commons.

Valentines Day

B&B will recognize Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, February 12th.

Students are invited to wear Red, Pink and/or White!

If you would like to give a special card/treat to students, please ensure there are enough for ALL students in your child’s class. As a reminder, if you are providing a special treat, they need to be pre-packaged and NUT FREE. Students will be sent home with their Valentine cards/treats and will be instructed to open them at home with their parents/guardians. This ensures safety for students who have allergies.

Black History Month

February is Black History month. Our students learn about diversity and inclusion throughout their school year. For February, students also specifically focus on the important events and identity that are specific to Black History. For more information and events around Calgary, please visit:

Scholastic Book Fair

At Banting and Best School we love reading! While we have an amazing library, we also know that families may want to have treasured books for at home as well.

February 10-12th @ the Learning Commons

Students will preview books during class time. If you would like your child to purchase from the Bookfair while at school, cash will be accepted. The Bookfair will also be open during Family Literacy Night and purchases can be made through cash, debit or credit.

Parking Reminders

Traffic around the school at drop off and pick up can be a congested time of day. To help minimize this, please consider a few key points:

  • Bus parking is closest to the front door and clearly marked. This is a no-stopping zone for other vehicles.
  • Cars can park along 18 Street as well as 66 Ave.
  • When parking along 66 Ave, please be mindful of the distance between cars. Having drivers leave a safe but short distance between cars allows for more people to park
  • We have many families that walk, bike or roll which we encourage for health and to alleviate the parking congestion. Please be mindful of students crossing at our multiple intersections. We are unable to have crossing guards based on the age of our students. An extra level of caution is greatly appreciated.

Working together supports safe travel for our students, families and our community.

Popcorn Fridays

Due to parent requests we will again be accepting cash for popcorn as well as online orders. Cash orders are $2.00 per bag.
