Orange Shirt and Truth and Reconciliation  

Each year, one particular day is designated to honour the history of Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous ways of knowing and the impact of residential schools. While Orange Shirt Day signifies a specific day of learning, we incorporate Indigenous learning throughout the school year.  

On Tuesday September 29th, we invite students to wear Orange to show recognition and understanding of these important teachings. Please contact the office if your child requires an orange shirt. We will also have orange hearts available for any student who would like to wear one.  

On Wednesday, September 30th, all CBE schools will be closed to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconcilliation.  

Road Closure that may affect Travel Time to School 

We wanted to make you aware of two upcoming road closures required to conduct utility work supporting the realignment of Ogden Road for the Green Line LRT - SE Project. 

The notice outlines temporary traffic and access changes that will be in place during the closures. A copy of the construction notice is attached for your reference. 

Key details: 

  • Dates: September 25 (9:00 p.m.) to September 28 (5:00 a.m.) and October 2 (9:00 p.m.) to October 5 (5:00 a.m.) 
  • Location: Ogden Road S.E. Between Millican Road S.E. And 68 Ave S.E. 
  • Impacts: A vehicle detour will be in place through the community via Millican Road S.E. And 68 Ave S.E. Commuters can expect delays on this route for the duration of the closure. The existing temporary Multi-Use Pathway will remain open. 
  • Access: Millican Road S.E. and 68 Ave S.E. will remain open for community access.
