Education Week, Teacher Appreciation Week

We are thrilled to celebrate a week that represents what is at the heart of who we are and what we do at Banting and Best School. All of our staff are educators and work with our students as a learning community. This week is a special highlight to those who hold the title of 'Teacher.' These amazing individuals demonstrate care, commitment and incredible skill in the role of teaching young learners.

NED Mindset Mission

We have loved seeing students practicing their growth mindset with the yo-yos from NED! Sales will happen each day in the office from 2:40-3:00 until Thursday, and end at 12:00pm on Friday, May 10.

May 8 – Hats On for Mental Health

Every year Canadian Mental Health Association dedicates a week in May to raise awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 6-10, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 8. Albertans including our Banting and Best students and staff, are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.

May 10 – Bear Witness Day

May 10 is Spirit Bear's birthday and an important date in the history of Jordan's Principle at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. Jordan's Principle is a child-first principle and legal rule named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. It ensures First Nations children receive the services and supports they need, when they need them.

Celebrated annually, Bear Witness Day honours Jordan River Anderson and invites people of all ages to "Bear Witness" to ensure Jordan's Principle is fully implemented!

On Friday, May 10th, we invite students to bring in a small, stuffed teddy bear

bears only (not any other animal)

must be able to fit on the corner of your desk (no larger than your forearm)

You can help! 😊

If you have any extra bear stuffies that you would like to donate to our school, to ensure that each child has a bear to participate with on May 10th. We will accept donations in the office until Tuesday, May 7th.

Note: donated bears will not be returned to you – thank you for your gift! 😊
